Pull it out and it tips forward, so nothing hides at the back.

It prints in one piece with the runner, hinge and stop already inside it. Take it off the bed and it opens.

Drawer closed, front flush with the housing, M3 name plate
Closed. Shuts flush; the name plate slides out and swaps.
Drawer pulled out level with screws inside
Out. A keyed runner carries it past the housing front, still level.

Keep pulling and it drops onto its stop at 25°. The runner stays level and the stop holds it there.

17 logged prints, two fused shut, one bug in our own code.

Every moving part was proven on a small test print before it went into a drawer. This is the list, in order, with what each one told us.

  1. Drop-in plug stop: rejecteda printed plug closed each groove. “Near impossible to put in correctly.”
  2. Telescoping runner at 0.2 / 0.3 / 0.4 mm0.3 mm was the gap that moved freely. On all three, the runner fell out when pulled.
  3. Tilt coupon: “functions perfectly”T-key runner, mushroom hinge, a lug-and-fan stop at 25°. This is the mechanism in every drawer since.
  4. Bridge coupona 33.5 mm bridge 1.5 mm over the drawer held; a 55.8 mm one sagged.
  5. First full drawer, M3on the wall, loaded: pegs hold, front shuts flush, drawer tips. “This one is good.”
  6. Five bridge towers45, 50 and 55 mm spans in six tiers each, to print the back without supports. Best: 65 mm/s at 0.80 flow.
  7. M2 drawer: fused shutthicker bridges everywhere, including inside the 0.3 mm gaps. The front snapped off when pulled.
  8. M2 again: stuckthe arch script we wrote left part of a layer at the wrong height. Our bug, not the printer's.
  9. M2, third try: “near perfect”the new settings only on the back bridge, everything else as the M3.
  10. Next: the no-pegs backdoes the housing stay put on a shelf when the drawer is pulled and tipped?
  11. File outone message to you that day, with the final print count.
Side-view diagram: a drawer on a single peg swings down from its runner
24 Sep, on paper: one peg per stage makes a hinge. Loaded with screws it droops about 10°. The stop fixed that.

What it hangs on is a separate back.

No pegs printing 27 Sep
A flat back. It sits on a shelf, and drawers lock to each other side by side and stacked.

Every drawer is one unit deep and grows wider or taller in whole units. We sized ours by counting every screw, nut and washer we own, 3,932 of them, and giving each thread size its own.
